What is Erasmus+?

Erasmus+ is a comprehensive education and youth programme supported by the European Union, aiming to give young people’s education, culture, sport, and social lives a global dimension. Since it began in 1987, it has expanded beyond Europe, offering diverse opportunities to young people, volunteers, teachers, students, and professionals worldwide. Personal development is only one of the opportunities it offers—Erasmus+ provides rich experiences both academically and socially. It inspires young people of every age and level, and through their contributions it touches other people’s lives, the environment, and solutions to problems.

Main benefits of Erasmus+

1. International education and learning

Studying abroad with Erasmus+ is a unique opportunity. You do not only study in another country—you live inside that culture and strengthen your language skills. For example, a student who wants to learn French can join a programme in France to improve their language and discover French culture in depth.

2. Cultural richness and personal development

Erasmus+ helps you grow not only academically but culturally. Meeting another country and culture widens your worldview. That helps both your personal growth and your future professional life.

3. Volunteering and contributing through social projects

Erasmus+ also offers important opportunities through volunteering. Young people can join international projects and contribute to social development. Such projects help build social responsibility and leadership. For example, a young person volunteering on an environmental project in Greece can deepen environmental awareness and gain valuable experience—and return home better able to analyse issues around them, take action, and be part of solutions rather than problems.

4. Career development and preparation for work

Young people can gain important experience through internships abroad. That is a strong advantage on a CV and can put you ahead in applications. For example, a student doing an internship at a technology company in Poland gains practical experience and learns international work culture—positively distinguishing them from peers.

Support Erasmus+ offers young people

Erasmus+ provides not only opportunities but also support so young people can use them effectively.

Financial support and grants

Erasmus+ can provide financial support. Studying or interning abroad can be costly; the programme offers grants and assistance that can help with accommodation, travel, and daily living costs. (Always follow the calls and announcements of the projects you apply to.)

Mentoring and guidance

Participants can receive mentoring and guidance while abroad. That support matters for both academic and social adjustment—especially for young people travelling abroad for the first time.

Networking and international connections

Erasmus+ helps you build a global network. That network helps professionally and personally—you meet participants from many countries, build friendships, and create connections worldwide. That is a major advantage in life and work.

Shape your future with Erasmus+

Erasmus+ offers young people major opportunities not only for academic growth but also for culture, social life, and career. By joining the programme you can know yourself better and build a stronger foundation for your journey. Erasmus+ is an opportunity that promises to open new doors for young people like you and help you become a global citizen with a broader perspective. Every Erasmus+ experience does not only move you one step forward—it helps you see the world differently and give direction to your life. If you want to discover the world, learn new skills, and add value to your life, take this opportunity.
